Adoptable Pets

Dog_Adoption_form_2017

Everyday is Adoption Day with FOAC!

Call 209-533-FOAC (3622) and schedule time to see dogs/cats or puppies you are interested in at our New Adoption Center!

14841 Mono Way, Sonora Ca  95370

We will arrange a private meeting 🙂

When you adopt a shelter pet, you are saving a life and giving a deserving animal a new home. Many animals end up in shelters because of circumstances beyond their control … deaths in the family, illness, divorce or a move that didn’t include them. You can make a difference in the lives of these animals.

FOAC ADOPTION PROCESS

FOAC Petfinder ListingsStep 1: Find your pet by browsing through our available pets below, or visit the FOAC listings on Petfinder.com. We also host adoption days!

Step 2: Next fill out our Adoption Application here. Once we receive your application, FOAC will contact your veterinarian and animal control to verify there are no issues or complaints. The cat or dog you choose will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped.

Step 3: Once we have reviewed your application and completed our verifications, you will be contacted so we can make arrangements for a meet and greet with the animal of your choice.

  • Golden Retriever
Hello! My name is Lucy and I LOVE bugs, butterflies, bees, burrowing animals, and anything that will give me a chase! I only have a minute to tell you about myself before I need to go patrol the yard again. I am approximately 5 years old, but no one really knows my exact age because I was a rescue. Some think I may have some Golden Retriever in me, but I am not so fond of swimming, decreasing that probability. My family recently got a new puppy that gets on my nerves. I usually get along with other dogs but would love a home without a puppy. I am up for hire for surveillance in home-land security, though I would prefer a large piece of property where I can run, bark, and dig to my heart’s content. I love my people and my toys. I am crate-trained, house-trained, and can walk on a leash. For more information call the FOAC Adoption Center at 209 533-3622 or 1 888 508 1112 To adopt fill out an online adoption form at FOAC.US and submit. Adoption upon approval.

This wonderful dog is Roxy. Currently in foster care. Foster mom has this to say: Roxy is currently being fostered by me and my pack. She is a lab and Rottweiler mix (looks Lab with Rott coloring only in the sun) 4 yrs old & 86lbs. She is GREAT w/ all my dogs; plays and plays w/ my 8 mo old pup and is gentle around the Chihuahuas. Walks well on a leash and rides good in cars. She knows sit & down. Also “easy” when roughhousing indoors. She prefers not to be crated and really doesn’t need it anyway. Completely house trained. Roxy is seriously one of the best fosters I have had!! She has a healing wound on her foot that gets medicine twice a day. But did I mention she’s great w/ kids too?? If you are interested in more information, call the FOAC Adoption Center at 209 533-3622 Monday - Saturday 10 - 2 or leave a message on 1 888 508 1112 Someone will call you back. Tucker is a male, just under 2 years old, Fox Terrier mix about 20 lbs. He is neutered, up to date on his shots, and microchipped. Tucker and 7 other dogs were siezed from a hoarding house. When we first got him and his brother, they were terrified, afraid to be touched, let alone put a collar on them. Tucker had a strained neck muscle we believe came from catch pull damage, he is getting pretty good at walking on a leash but has to have a harness. He is afraid of pressure on his neck. After 3 months of working with them Tucker is doing much better. A bit shy in the beginning, needs a little time to trust. Once he does be becomes and very playful little guy. He loves to play and can be a high energy guy. When he’s nice and tired he loves to snuggle and sleep with his people. Tucker still needs a little more work. He is very scared if you tried to man handle him in any way, but would never hurt anyone. He is great with all dogs and good with cats. Children make him a little nervous but with time he would be great. Just needs time to adjust and get used to them. There is not an aggressive bone in his body. He doesn’t seem to care about chickens but hasn’t been loose with them yet. Call the FOAC Adoption Center if you would like more information on Tucker.

Two great cats looking for a permanent home, their owner recently died. CALL KATHY JOHNSON AT 209 588-9683 They are Raider & Jake -- Raider is the black & white kitty, & Jake is the Siamese. They belonged to our friend, David, who passed away recently. They were practically "service cats" -- Jake used to ride along on David's walker. After he died they went from living in someone's garage to living in our screened-in-carport, but they really need a good home where they can have love & -- eventually -- a certain amount of freedom. They are around four years old, have their shots & are fixed. Both males. Jake loves to play, & Raider loves to eat. They are gorgeous cats, & apparently also very good mousers. (We wouldn't know, as we already have 9 cats, & the poor mousies don't fare well around here...) You can give people my phone number: Kathy Johnson, 588-9683 or call the FOAC Adoption Center at 209 533-3622 or 1 888 508 1112. I'm hoping there is someone out there who is patient & would love a couple of eventually-affectionate older cats.

  • German Shepherd Dog

She is a young, female, German Shepherd . Currently in foster care. Information from foster mom: 1. Very little separation anxiety. She is ok with being left alone for hours at a time. I have a puppy cam, and whenever I check it, shes either sleeping or chewing on allowed toys or playing with my other dogs. She does not require you to stay at home all the time, but would do best with a fellow dog companion. She likes rubber based toys and anything edible to chew on mostly. 2. She is very submissive to humans and very obedient. I only have to tell her "no" once, and she won't do it again. If someone wanted to work on her recall, sit, and stay, she would become even more obedient. 3. She is housebroken. No accidents. 4. She has a soft mouth when she plays with you and other dogs. 5. Does not require lots of exercise, but does need some. She can have lots of energy when its needed, however I have two other german shepherds of my own, so she might seem high energy to others. Just in my opinion I would say she has about a moderate amount. She loves swimming! Areas that need work: 1. Escape artist, but if you run to chase her, she will just lay down and submit, needs more work on recall. Treats are helpful. 2. She is timid at first, but does warm up. It is obvious that she has had a rough life prior to now. 3. She is dominant with other dogs; I have a dominant female of my own and they get along amazingly, but she is still just a puppy. I honestly think that she would get along with all dogs, but another dominant dog might not like her. 4. Needs work walking on leash, has a tendency to pull. 5. . A little bit of a barker, but not excessively. Will be quiet when told to do so. I am so looking forward to meeting my forever family and taking them on lots of adventures. Rugar is a 3 - 4 year old Boxer cross, . • Australian Shepherd
Australian Shepherd/Staffordshire Bull Terrier Mix Male, 5 years old Micro-chipped, Up-to-Date on Shots, Neutered, Kennel-trained Toby is a very loving, sweet dog who loves people and other dogs. He is an indoor/outdoor dog who loves to run and play, but also really needs to have attention and be with people. Highly active, he could use a family that will make sure he gets a lot of exercise- could even make a great agility dog. He is also very intelligent and trainable- in fact, he already knows a few tricks: sit, lay down, stay (may need a refresher), come here (may also need a refresher), kennel (go to kennel), leave it (leave something alone), wait (wait for food), okay (release word). Toby is very snuggly and would love to have lots of affection, he likes to paw at people to ask for attention. He may even try to crawl up on your lap to snuggle with you. He likes kids, but would do better with kids over the age of 8 because of his high energy- he has a tendency to accidently knock younger children down and his pawing for attention tends to scare them. Toby is also a little mouthy when he plays- he doesn't bite (and wouldn’t hurt anyone), but it may scare younger children to have his mouth open near their face or on their arms. Not sure how he will do with cats or small animals, but he loves to play with other dogs and would do well in a home with another dog (though he would do well as an only dog, too). All in all, Toby is an amazing dog who needs an equally amazing home with a family who will adore him and give him all the love, attention, and exercise he needs and deserves. Kami is an energetic MUTT. She’s got a little cattle dog, a little Bullmastiff, Border Collie, German Shepherd and Siberian Husky as well as a general mix of Sporting, Hound and Herding Groups according to her DNA. Kami is just over 15 months, spayed and is up-to-date on veterinary stuff. She’s a good watch dog, however she is shy until she gets comfortable with someone, but she ok with kids. Kami is very smart and is eager to please and learn. She needs a continuation of training to become even better at commands. She could be an excellent companion dog or even great in the agility ring. She is food oriented and will beg as well as steal food from her pack-mates. Affectionate, sweet and very smart. She wants to be a good girl and needs some firm but kindly leadership. Great on car rides and going to the Vet. If bored, like ALL puppies, she will CHEW things like asthma inhalers, underwear, napkins and wood chunks of trees (logs), bones and she loves paper towel rolls (not empty).Kami has separation anxiety and will distort stuff if left alone for TOO long. She’s growing out of it though. Kami will stay with me off leash and is well behaved, however she may bolt if there is something to distract her. She will resource guard. Give her a job and she’ll be a great addition to any pack… If you are interested in more information call the FOAC Adoption Center, 14841 Mono Way, Sonora 209 533-3622 (Monday - Saturday) 10 - 2 or 1 888 508 1112 for more information.
